Wednesday 6:45 to 9 AM Race Point and Herring Cove. The whales were close enough to get videos and still shots. They are not very close but also could be seen wit naked eye. Skim feeding behavior; flukes seem on some dives, paddle side fins ween last surface. Tails seen flopping at surface. Nine Northern Right Whales:
notes: One had very smooth and round rostrum and small white area on side of face. One had Very rough and irregular and jagged rostrum. A few had white callosities layer on top of head that showed some off-white to creamy brown color. The ones with brownish color were swimming side-by-side and seen from the small rest room at Herring Cove. Activity died down around 9 AM and it started to get more windy.
Five wild turkeys (one displaying) on access roads between Rave and Herring. One white-winged gull.
