Anyhow, this male showed up at my son's feeder in Eagle Creek today. It has a quite distinctive, although relatively quiet, sequence of rapid 'chirps'.
Note that in the enlargement, this hummer is able to flex its beak like some probing shorebirds. I wasn't aware of that. This is visible in some other of these photos (not shown) as well. Also notice how skinny the bill appears in many of the photos. It was windy, which ruffled the feathers under the wing.
