Subject: ID help for duck at Symphony Lake in Cary
I walked Symphony Lake in Cary today and saw, in addition to plenty of
mallards, canada geese, cormorants and herons, a lone brown duck. It was
off by itself. It was brown but more of a coppery, vibrant brown, not a
dull brown. The beak was dark and it's head was two-toned, darker on the
upper part of it's head. It is on the smaller side, smaller than the
mallards. I did not see it dive.

Any ideas?
