Finally getting around to entering my counts from Friday's census. There were a lot of first-of-season birds including BLACK-NECKED STILT, Forster's Tern, Caspian Tern, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egret, Willet, Purple Martin, and Northern Rough-winged Swallow.
A Yellow-throated Warbler was singing on Coaches Island.
Inflow into Cells 1D and 2C attracted hundreds of first-year Herring Gulls, plus a small influx of shorebirds: Black-bellied Plover, Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs, Dunlin, and Least Sandpiper.
U.S. Fish & Wildlife and onsite staff also recently reported American Avocet, American Bittern, and Common Tern on the island.
