Subject: [CT Birds] Saltonstall Red-necked Grebe
04/16/17 - Branford, Lake Saltonstall, 2:00 pm. Red-necked Grebe continues, loosely associated with a cormorant, located 100-200 yards south of the Nature Trail sign which points north toward the upper end of the lake as you approach the lake coming down the Nature Trail from the 400 Hosley Ave parking lot (permit required). Did not see Pied-billed. Scope was necessary for ID under windy conditions looking southwest into bright sun from eastern shore. Two boats with fishermen were occupying the very upper end of the lake.
