Subject: Swannanoa Valley Birdwalk today, Owen Park/WWC, Buncombe County, NC
24 Birdwatchers saw 41 species and walked 3.4 miles from Owen Park along the Swannanoa River Trail and back through the farm and campus of Warren Wilson College. Highlights were Palm and Yellow-rumped Warblers in breeding plumage, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, White-eyed Vireo, Green Heron, Northern Shoveler, Eastern Meadowlark, and posing Tree Swallows. Thanks to Stu Gibeau and Steve Yurkovich for expert leadership. We had visitors from near Boone and Raleigh, NC and maybe other places I did not hear about. See you next month on the third Saturday, May 20, 8am at Owen Park. Jim Poling
