Subject: [ia-bird] Common Loon on/above Otter Creek Lake

Attached are a couple of photos of a common loon that was on (above) Otter Creek
Lake (Tama County park northeast of Toledo) shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning. The
photographs were taken directly west of the Visitor Center from the little jetty
on the east shore line. The common loon flew west and I did not see it return while I was on site.

Other birds viewed at Otter Creek Lake County Park this morning:

3 to 5 American robins

1 blue-winged teal drake

3 to 5 brown creepers

5 Canada geese

2 Cooper's hawks

1 downy woodpecker

5 to 10 eastern bluebirds

multiple golden-crowned kinglets

15 to 20 lesser scaup

1 pair of mallards

10 to 15 northern shovelers

5 to 10 ring-necked ducks

1 sharp-shinned hawk (disrupted bluebird viewing)

3 to 5 turkey vultures

3 to 5 yellow-shafted flickers

Happy birding!
