The presence of at least 40 Lapland Longspurs on Tieline Road in late March has make this spot a good location to check daily for new finds. The fields here are flooded in a few spots and the location offers a great view of the area in every direction.
Today, four Wood Ducks were present with a continuing high number of Water Pipits (60+) with at least 12 Horned Larks. An Eastern Meadowlark was found around the barn with many TV's heading north. Shorebirds were represented by a single Lesser Yellowlegs.
Yesterday, the variety was better with at least 70 Water Pipits, 4 Killdeer, and a slew of Common Crows. The best birds included a flyby Merlin, Great Blue Heron, and an expected flock of five (5) Sandhill Cranes in the back pasture.
