The red-headed woodpecker continues at Appleton Farms, along with a pileated, two kestrels, assorted killdeer, and a pair of red tails. And on Island Road in Essex, there were 7 great egrets. At Niles Pond in Gloucester there are now 4 BC night herons surreptitiously catching the warmth of the sun, and at least 75 sanderlings minding the shore at Brace Cove. Good birding!
