The Indiana Bird Records Committee reviewed several records, including all the remaining submissions from 2016. There are a few submissions from 2017 waiting to be voted upon, but submissions for this year have so far been few.

The committee thanks all those who submitted documentations of their rare bird sightings and appreciates receiving formal documentation.
The planned taxonomic update of Indiana's bird list has been delayed because the American Ornithological Society (AOS) is currently reviewing the relationships of many passerines, which could potentially lead to more large-scale changes. It was decided to wait until after July of 2017, when these decisions are announced. That way, Indiana will have a single major checklist shift, rather than two within the span of a year.
