Subject: [IN-BIRD-L] Indiana Bird Records Committee activity - Winter 2017
The Indiana Bird Records Committee reviewed several records, including all
the remaining submissions from 2016. There are a few submissions from 2017
waiting to be voted upon, but submissions for this year have so far been
few.

White Ibis - Vanderburg Co., August 2016- Accept - physical evidence
Long-tailed Jaeger - Lake Co., September 2016- Accept - no physical evidence
Western Kingbird - Vermillion Co., November 2016- Accept - physical evidence
Little Gull - Union Co., November 2016 - Accept - physical evidence
Prairie Falcon - Gibson Co., December 2016 - Accept - no physical evidence
Glaucous Gull - St. Joseph Co., December 2016- Accept - no physical
evidence (although photos exist on eBird)
Townsend's Solitaire - Lawrence Co., December 2016 - Accept - physical
evidence
Townsend's Solitaire - Madison Co., January 2017 (through March 2017) -
Accept - physical evidence

There were no submissions which were not accepted by the committee.

The committee thanks all those who submitted documentations of their rare
bird sightings and appreciates receiving formal documentation.

The planned taxonomic update of Indiana's bird list has been delayed
because the American Ornithological Society (AOS) is currently reviewing
the relationships of many passerines, which could potentially lead to more
large-scale changes. It was decided to wait until after July of 2017, when
these decisions are announced. That way, Indiana will have a single major
checklist shift, rather than two within the span of a year.

Thank you very much,
