Dear Friends,

It was a great day for birding in Northwest PA. The overcast skies kept birds active most of the day.

Highlights include:

Tundra Swan- 100+ Shenango Propagation Area in Mercer County
White-fronted Goose- 3 same location
Large numbers of puddle ducks here of many species.

Short-billed Dowitcher- 1 Miller's Pond
Greater Yellowlegs- 2 large Miller's Pond
Wilson's Snipe- 4 on Tieline Road near my house

Sandhill Crane- 4 just east of the town of Geneva
Rough-legged Hawk- 3 dark phase birds in the vicinity of Miller's Ponds

Tree Swallows- 15 Lake Wilhelm et al
Eastern Phoebe- 1 Shenango Reservoir
LAPLAND LONGSPUR- 15 on Tieline Road

Total of 77 species from 11:15-7:30 PM
Total of 30 species of water birds and 24 species of waterfowl
