Subject: [NHBirds] Recent Lakes Region sighting
Saturday:
Bohemian Waxwings -- flock of about 100 with one Cedar at Squam Lakes
Natural Science Center

Sunday:
Carolina Wren - 1 singing near Weirs Beach.
Turkey Vulture -- at least 3 seen in Meredith and Laconia.

Monday:
Wood Duck -- pair on Squam River in Ashland
Merlin -- 1 seen from Weirs Beach

All three days -- many Robins seen in various places all feeding on Sumac.
Red-winged Blackbirds -- all over, singing.

Eagle are settling in, with several Lakes Region pairs already incubating.
Those that haven't laid yet were attending nests and mating.

Interesting observation today in Weirs Beach was a battle between a Crow
and a Chipmunk. The Crow grabbled the chipmunk and they tumbled down a
snowy slope. The chipmunk escaped but was grabbed again and the tumbled
again. Chipmunk escaped into a snow hole only to be pulled out again. It
finally escaped and Crow left.
