Hi, birders,

Another full group this morning as we walked the Sierra Vista EOP dikes,
with visitors from CA, CO, MI, MN, ONT, OR, and elsewhere in AZ. The group
tally was 62 species at the end of the walk.

Highlights today included four adult Ring-billed Gulls at the Moson Road
impoundments, an adult Great Egret for the sixth week in a row, and the
first EOP Cassin's Kingbirds of the year.

Duck numbers continue to decline, although a male Bufflehead with several
females continued to attract attention. An adult Black-crowned Night-Heron
was a good find, as were three Wilson's Snipe that zipped away from various
impoundments during the morning. Only two Soras were heard, so they too are
moving north.

It was a three falcon day, with a Peregrine Falcon sweeping by at the
beginning of the walk, right over the tops of the cattails. Only a few Tree
and Barn Swallows today, ditto for Am. Pipits and Horned Larks. Still a
100+ Yellow-headed Blackbirds, but Brewer's Blackbirds have dropped to a
dozen or so. Marsh Wrens were busy singing, but stayed resolutely hidden.

Cheers, Erika Wilson
