Subject: [ia-bird] Red Rock-long-tailed duck
A trip away from the snow and ice to Red Rocks reservoir near Pella Thursday afternoon near Pella was productive. Some highlights:

Long-tailed Duck - female, near a few Greater Scaup by east end of the dam
Ruddy Ducks - 3, FOY
Great Blue Herons - 4 in shaggy breeding plumage
Mergansers - all 3 sp.
Pied-billed Grebe - FOY
Cormorants - 4 FOY
Am. White Pelicans - with casques -wonder if they overwintered
A few Herring Gulls mixed with the abundant Ring-bills.
Jaarsma donuts - 4
