> Silver Sands State Park is one of the gems in the city of Milford, as well as in Connecticut.
> It is an oasis for a wide variety of wildlife, birds, shorebirds and wading birds. Piping Plovers are a federally endangered species and in Connecticut are a threatened species. Piping plovers and Least Terns use the beaches of Silver Sands for nesting. Development of the shoreline for recreation has limited the number of available piping plover nest sites. Human disturbance can destroy nests that are well camouflaged in the sands. The "sparrow lanes" offer prime habitat for a variety of sparrow species as well as other wildlife.
> I urge you to have a moratorium on any development at Silver Sands State Park until a detailed environmental impact statement is conducted.
> Thank You.
