Likewise here in southern Chester County, a fox sparrow just showed up on the back deck where millet is scattered on top of the snow. Regular visitors to the millet dump include white-throated and song sparrows, juncos, cardinals, mourning doves, blue jays, and sporadically red-winged blackbirds, cowbirds, and grackles. Just recently american crows have been showing up.

Out in front where there is a mealworm feeder for bluebirds, a robin recently discovered the feeder. A male bluebird took exception to that and flew into the robin, knocking it out of the feeder. The element of surprise worked only once since the robin now feeds there unchallenged.

Joining the parade of FOY fox sparrow reports this week, one joined the mob of mixed blackbirds thronging our feeders this morning in Wayne Twp., Schuylkill County.
