Subject: [AZNMbirds] Six Hummingbird Species, Nesting Hawks & Ravens
This morning, three of us observed (at an arm's length) six species of hummingbirds.
Broad-billed
Broad-tailed
Anna's
Costa's
Rufous
Black-chinned
Adult males of all species as well as numerous females and juveniles.

Lucy's Warblers are back with at least two individuals seen. (probably four, as seen in disparate areas with their own water sources)

The Cooper's Hawks and Common Raven are, for the third time, nesting in adjacent pine trees with a linear distance of less than fifteen feet between nest sites. The Cooper's male allowed an extended time to observe the selecting and gathering of branches from the various trees. He would alternate between the ash and pine in his selection of boughs. The ravens nest is already to the stage of putting in the soft things. Both the Ravens and the hawks respond to any red-tail overflights, as well as aggressive chases when interlopers get too close.
