The Wednesday Bird Walk had 54 species yesterday, which is consistent with the last few weeks. Highlights were a Merlin and the often seen Western Screech Owl near the Bookstore, a continuing Grasshopper Sparrow on the south side of the path near between post #12 and the backless bench, Soras at the south end of Kingfisher Pond, and Lazuli Buntings high in the Cottonwoods along the River.

The previous day I saw the Virginia Rail the south end of Kingfisher Pond and at the River east of the Pond while a local expert saw the continuing Slate-Colored Fox along the path near #11 and the continuing Clay-colored Sparrow between posts #4 and 5.

The next bird walk is next Wednesday, March 15th at 8. Free.
