A trip out to Darby Creek west of Columbus this morning yielded little in the way of new early migrants. I stopped at Clover Cemetery wetlands, Battelle-Darby Nature center, Kuhlwein wetlands, US40 Bridge, Sycamore Plains Trail, and Darby Bend Lakes. Waterbird activity was virtually nonexistant; the only interesting waterfowl were some Ring-necked Ducks at Clover Cemetery wetlands and a pair of Bufflehead at Darby Bend Lakes. The notable birds included:

Turkey Vultures - 1-2 at virtually every stop
Killdeer - small numbers at most of the open fields
BrownCreeper - at least 1 was calling along the Sycamore Plains Trail
E.Bluebirds - 1-2 at virtually every stop, including many singing males
Kinglets - only a few, with single Golden-crowns at US40 Bridge and Sycamore Plains
Tree Sparrows - still a fair-sized flock (25) at Kuhlwein wetlands
E.Meadowlark - 1 was singing at Kuhlwein wetlands
Blackbirds - Red-winged blackbirds were abundant & widespread.
