The program for the Evanston North Shore Birds Club’s meeting Tuesday, February 28, will be on "Reporting Rare Birds: How to do It and What’s in It for You.” Geoff Williamson, Secretary of the Illinois Ornithological Records Committee, asks: If you found a rare bird, would you look forward to documenting it for eBird or for the state rare bird committee? This explains what the documentation process is and helps birders prepare for reporting rarities. Along the way it emphasizes not only why you should do it but also how you benefit from doing it. Come learn how you can contribute to the record of bird life in Illinois and improve your birding skills at the same time.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at The Levy Center, 300 Dodge Avenue, in Evanston. Note that this is not our usual meeting place, at the Ecology Center! Dodge Avenue is about one half mile east of McCormick Boulevard and the North Shore Channel, and the Levy Center is south of Oakton Street at Mulford Street, where you would enter James Park.
