Texbirders,

I birded the Granger area today and the highlight was watching a flock of calling Mountain Plovers fly back-and-forth over a field for at least 15 minutes before they disappeared over a rise. If you've ever observed this species in flight, you know why Peter Matthiessen titled his book on shorebirds "The Windbirds" (Great read if you've never read it).

Other highlights included a Pileated Woodpecker, a Gray Catbird, and McCown's Longspurs. The list, some details and some photos are at http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S34409684

Cheers,
