Hi Texbirders, Twenty-six of us headed out into the refuge for our morning walk and once again we had the trifecta of kingfishers! This time a female Ringed Kingfisher got us started out right. We found her perched on the wire over the canal just behind the Visitor Center. The past few days have brought sightings of a male but this was our first female. Nice to know they are both around! Another highlight featured a species we almost always see ... Harris's Hawks ... but today nest building was in process while our group looked on. Such a privilege to witness. One of our participant's target species was actually not a bird but an Indigo Snake and, happily, one graced us with its presence. Every day is different. Come join us for a guided bird walk any day of the week. Meet at the Visitor Center at 8:30 am.
