Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7.5 hours

Official Counter: Paul Gosselin

Observers: Hugh Kent, Liz Kent, Mike Jaber, Robin Smallwood

Visitors:
Thanks to Robin, Mike, Hugh and Liz for assisting with the count today. We
had a few visitors including keen birders Kaleigh, Maksum, Mataya, Fred and
Betty who were pleased to see American White Pelicans flying over on cue.
It was also good to meet Betty, Bruce and their dog Zoe.

Weather:
Wind strong from the southwest all day. Overcast skies cleared throughout
the day. Temperature started a chilly 7c and rose to 14c. Pleasant day on
the tower.

Raptor Observations:
We inched our way slowly towards the next target of 80,000 Turkey Vultures
with 122 flying through to the north. Red-tailed Hawks (41) drifted past
throughout the day. There was a total of 5 Northern Harriers with one nice
gray ghost. It was good to see four Peregrines today. Always worth it for
the great aerobatics you see with Peregrines.

Non-raptor Observations:
Good duck numbers today with a healthy 2693 Ring-necked Ducks, a challenge
to count with many hiding in the vegetation. Horned Larks(195) and Cedar
Waxwing (516) continued to migrate in good numbers. The strong wind seemed
to reduce the number of songbirds around the tower. It was good to see
American White Pelicans (29) flying into the marsh and slowly increasing
numbers of Tundra Swan (8). A six pointer white tailed deer buck showed
great stamina wading the marsh from the hunt club to the point. The list is
at https://ebird.org/checklist/S409118776

Predictions:
A forecast moderate WNW wind will possibly bring a few more raptors.
Hopefully we may inch closer to our Turkey Vulture target.
