Hi Everyone -
Many thanks to Chuck for organizing this event again! Deming Farm in Newington is within walking distance of my house and I never would have suspected that there would be such a great variety of birds in the garden area.
Deming has produced some nice finds in previous years including Yellow Billed Cuckoo, Vesper Sparrow and Dickcissel. This year, first-ever seen at Deming birds included Eastern Meadowlark and Blue Grosbeak, a lifer for me.
With 10 different sparrow species consistently found in October, Deming is a great place to hone sparrow ID skills and practice photography. When you go to Deming, just be aware of people that let their dogs run free, despite ample signage instructing people to keep their dogs leashed. I avoid weekends at Deming for that reason.
Thanks again for organizing this event Chuck!
