Thank you for the information, Chris.
Are you aware of an available AI vaccine for birds? As a falconer I am
hunting ducks and though I have seen no signs of the problem yet, would
love a vaccine.
A trained Falcon hunting ducks is probably at the highest risk, because my
birds can choose from the entire flock, and will definitely pick any bird
which is slower or less coordinated than usual.
I can and do release many ducks, “unharmed”, but by the time I get there,
my Falcons are thoroughly exposed.
When I feed Duck, I freeze it to the lowest temperature, and though I know
that does not kill the virus, freezing (and especially repeated freezing)
does attenuate the virus, which could potentially help.
Are you aware if there is any research testing the effectiveness
/potential
of crossover immunity or protection with the administration of a human
vaccine to birds?
