Weather: Morning drizzle delayed the start of the count. Remaining overcast with occasional sprinkles. Light southwest winds. Warm with a high in the low 70s.
Raptor Observations: An early Merlin rocketed through just above the ground. Sixteen Turkey Vultures, one Sharp-shinned Hawk, and one Bald Eagle were the only other migrants. Low activity overall due to the poor conditions.
Non-raptor Observations: 25 Canada Geese, Common Raven, 20 Tree Swallows, 110 Cedar Waxwings, 4 Purple Finches, 30 Pine Siskins, 25 Brown-headed Cowbirds, no monarchs. https://ebird.org/checklist/S408215892
Predictions: TOMORROW: Cloudy. Periods of rain early. Warm. High around 65F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Currently the forecast shows rain will likely delay the start of the count and it may not clear up enough to get much of a flight going. Expect light migration.
SATURDAY: Some morning clouds then mainly sunny skies. High 57F. Winds WNW at 10-20mph. Better conditions following a cold front. Expect moderate to good migration.
SUNDAY: A few clouds early, otherwise mostly sunny. High 59F. Winds W at 10-20mph. Expect moderate migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Ashland Nature Center information may be found at: www.delnature.org
