It's curious to have such a late one. I live at the northern end of I-35 in
Duluth, MN, and we had a Yellow-billed Cuckoo up the shore from here on
October 11--not just a late date, but exceptionally far north for the
species.
We also have, right now, one of your Oklahoma birds visiting town—a
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. The prettiest of all state birds!

This may be the latest-ever fall season occurrence for Oklahoma. Certainly my latest-ever record for the area by almost 4 weeks. It’s been a mild fall but dang!

There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of birds.
There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of
nature--the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after the
winter.
