Didn't see the rare scoters over the past couple years here in Kansas City, but after seeing ebird list the black scoter observed this morning at Longview lake, we ran out over lunch and within 22 minutes not only videotaped the female black scoter, but also observed the surf scoter! That female was far out on the lake so the video is very poor. Along with one gadwall in with 150 coots, pied billed grebes, juncos and ring billed gulls, it was a great lunchtime event!!! Never saw the limpkin here, but two lifers count more!
Good birding all! If it gets sunny I'll get better video of both!............
