A pair of Norther Flickers (Yellow-shafted) arrived at my Peanut Delight No Melt Suet feeders about 3:05 PM today. We had overcast skies with misty rain. They went to the location used last year and I believe it is the same pair from past years.
When I was growing up in Crockett, Texas, in the 1950s and 1960s my parents and grandparents called this bird the Yellowhammer, which was the name accepted 60 years ago and before eBird and Field Guides.
