Official Counter: Andre Vu
Observers: Ron Kline
Visitors: 22 visitors today, interacted with 7. Joined on this picturesque afternoon by Ron Kline, or Kliney as some longtime volunteers know him by.
Weather: 48-61 degrees, cirrus streaked sky, and light southwest wind up to 8 mph. Some haze in the morning.
Raptor Observations: Bald eagle (4): 1245a, 1258a, 1258a, 1350a
Pretty similar to yesterdays movement as expected. Best sighting of the day was a really cool view of an adult male and female/immature harrier side by side, twisting and bouncing around each other in the air as harriers do. Jim and John yesterday mentioned a study in the works about whether harriers are faithful to the same mate year after year - making assumptions is not good science, but it would be nice to imagine that these two were a pair migrating side by side after sharing a breeding season together.
Non-raptor Observations: Just the usual suspects today - purple finch, pine siskin, robins, juncos, both kinglets, brown creeper, ravens, red-breasted nuthatch.
Predictions: Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a high near 74 (are we sure its November?). Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Lehigh Gap Nature Center (<mail...>) Bake Oven Knob information may be found at: www.lgnc.org
