Hi OKBIRDS,
A late GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was a surprise find at Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown OKC around midday today, Tuesday, 3 November. It flushed from the tall grasses and forbs at the Prairie Garden area off Reno Ave. There’s only one later report for the fall season and that was a deceased window kill individual on 6 Nov. 2016.
On another note, the late-lingering Ovenbird may have departed for good. I last had it on Saturday, 31 October. I’ve been back twice since then and haven’t seen or heard it again. I wouldn’t be shocked if it is still lurking around somewhere in the gardens though.
