Official Counter: Jen Lee
Observers: Craig Kochel
Visitors: 19 leaf peepers. Mr. Hess stopped and asked about the telephone poles and tower location, not realizing the new tower was already installed.
Weather: Thin high clouds, 9-16c, medium winds all morning, decreased for the afternoon.
Raptor Observations: The breezy South wind all morning should have equated to more birds but they had other ideas. Then it slowed for the afternoon and some birds showed up - confusing to say the least! Highlight was an eye level adult Red-shouldered showing off it checkerboard wings. Later, an immature Bald circled close a few times just off the ridge. Craig got some good shots of its top and bottom. Top side looked very lightly colored, almost tan in patches.
Non-raptor Observations: Raven, starlings, Blue Jays, a.crow, chickadees, juncos, goldfinch, golden crowned kinglets, robins, pine siskins, red-bellied wp, pileated, cedar ww, c.wren. Some TVs, BVs, Redtails not counted.
Predictions: Similar southerly winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Darrell Smith (<oleagleye...>)
