At the risk of being the unpopular commentator, I just need to remind people that the bear human encounters are becoming more and more common and maybe we should all be thinking about not contributing to their increased habituation to humans. I have heard two stories in the last month, one firsthand the other secondhand about bears in Stowe. They are breaking into houses, smashing their way in. I saw a bear scat in the woods in Moscow last month that was all sunflower seed. If you don't believe this can happen, read about the bear situation in Tahoe, CA.
I am just asking everyone to consider respecting the intelligence of the bears and not putting food out for them. Fish and wildlife says " A fed bear is a dead bear."
Thank you for your consideration.
