Visitors:
104. Thanks Jake and Isabelle for birding with us.

The Big Soup today was fun as always and competition was tight between
Phil's Roasted Garlic Gashawk, Nate's Vegan Vulture Chick Curry Soup, Van's
Mystery Bird Chili, and Julie's Roughleg Lenticular Lentil. In the end,
Phil's creation won first place. Congrats Phil and thanks to all the
contestants and voters!

Weather:
Sunny day with no clouds and visibility all the way to snowy Mt.
Washington. Light westerly winds. Temps ranging from 32 to 46 degrees.

Raptor Observations:
Lovely weather but a quiet day for raptors. The first bird of the day and
month was an adult Cooper's Hawk. A juvenile harrier in the afternoon tied
the season high count for harriers (125). Non-migrating raptors consisted
of an immature Bald Eagle, sharpie, and two red-tails.

Non-raptor Observations:
The bird of the day was a beautiful Bohemian Waxwing that flew in just
after 11am and alighted atop a spruce tree in front of the Observatory to
pose for pictures. A Pine Siskin also landed in the spruces today and a
male White-winged Crossbill perched briefly as well. Other birds included
both Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, Purple Finches, and one Yellow-rumped
Warbler.

Predictions:
Warmer tomorrow with temps in the fifties and winds from the west.
