Registration for the Monday December 28th San Francisco Christmas Bird Count is now open - details at https://goldengatebirdalliance.app.neoncrm.com/event-detail?event=20498 The San Francisco count circle includes the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and all of San Francisco, and reaches down the peninsula to San Bruno Mountain and the wetlands north of the San Francisco International Airport. If you are a beginning birder or if you have never participated in a Christmas Bird Count, there will be a three hour CBC training session the morning of Saturday November 21st at Heron's Head Park. Details here. ( https://goldengatebirdalliance.app.neoncrm.com/event-detail?event=20468 )
The Count also still needs a few additional experienced birders to act as Area Leaders and coordinate teams for the Count, and make sure data is entered into eBird. Organizational skills, eBird skills and persistence are the main qualities needed (you don’t need to be a leading birder in the County to do this). The Count is divided into 18 Areas (we have Leaders for 14 of these Areas, and are looking for 4 more). You would be responsible for coordinating a team and assigning locations to team members (mostly small teams of 2).
