Subject: [pen-bird] Kentucky Warbler - Old Woman's Creek Road - 10/31/2026
Good Evening Birders,
I spotted a Kentucky Warbler around 3:22 PM at the end of the bridge at the entrance to Old Woman's Creek Road today! It was beside the trail in the brambles along the ground at 37.1857703, -122.3395101. At first I thought I'd flushed an Orange-crowned Warbler since I only saw the back of the bird, uniformly olive greenish as it disappeared into the understory. When I got the binoculars on it as it skulked along the ground I was completely stunned to see a Kentucky Warbler staring back at me! I lost it again, but soon found it perched a bit higher up in a bush just off the trail where it miraculously stayed mostly still long enough for a few photos and a video! Apparently the 4th county record and 1st fall record! It's been a remarkable October, so many rare warblers! A photo and video in my eBird checklist:
