Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] ZTHA Stonewall Mine - high count?
Roughly 10 min ago, I saw 4 Zone-tailed Hawks simultaneously circling the Stonewall Mine parking lot.

I arrived about 30 min ago, saw one bird just south of the parking lot. Started walking down the paved fork of the trail and saw another individual which had several missing or damaged primaries on its left wing. I turned back towards the parking lot to track it and saw 3 more all simultaneously. I was not able to get a single photo containing all four but I did confirm each with binoculars while all were in view.

Also counted 5 Clark’s Nutcrackers from the parking lot, haven’t seen any Red Crossbills yet. Pretty chilly and quiet up here right now.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
