Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] 15–18 pinyon jays in University City
Was driving about 200 yards away from my house about 2 hours ago when a flock of pinyon jays flew across the street I was on.
Couldn’t get an exact count since the I was driving and paying at least some minimal attention to the road, but somewhere around 15–18 birds.
Too far from my house to be yard birds, darn it, and flying in an east-west direction, so they didn’t pass over my yard.
I Iive just just north of Rte 52, about 2 miles east of Mt. Soledad, which has a lot of coniferous trees on it in various neighborhoods.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
