observation time: 6.5 hours

Official Counter: Craig Jackson

Observers:
Visitors:
Frank Wood and Thomas Henry stopped to talk about hawks

Weather:
Moderate (2) winds from the west quickly became stronger (3) winds from the
NW with gusts as high as 26 Km/hr in the afternoon and still 21 km/hr in
the last half-hour of the watch Cloud cover -- always in the northern
horizon cloud cover went from 2-25-5% as cumulus clouds moved across the
northern horizon from west to east Temperature13-16-15 C

Raptor Observations:
with the strong wind all but one of the few raptors seen were flying
low. The only exception was a very late Osprey that flew in at height 1 and
soared to height 3 before heading off. One raptor was noticed by a visitor
which passed south of the Rock where I could not see it from my vantage
point. It's possible given the strong wind that other raptors did the
same.
Non-migrants - 1 TV and 1 RT

Non-raptor Observations:
Birds -- Raven and DEJunco
Almost as surprising as the Osprey was a Mantid (species?)

Predictions:

Winds are predicted to be moderately strong from the NW. Conditions appear
to be good for a good flight. Hopefully, additional observers will help to
increase our count
