Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Sound ID help from El Monte County Park in Lakeside?)
Hi, birders,

I made a recording on Friday standing roadside at El Monte County Park about 9:30am hoping to ID the very low-pitched "hooting" sound, in the owl or dove range, first heard at about 13 seconds.  Merlin declines to make a suggestion, BirdNet suggests (at very low confidence levels) two owls we don't have here, and I only find one close match in the Peterson sound guide... for which I have even lower confidence!

I hope it *is* a bird, lol.  I've posted it as a soundscape recording on this eBird list.  Thanks for any help!

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
