Subject: [Arlington Birds] Reminder: Mystic Mural Celebration Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Just a reminder that Tuesday, October 27 from 3-4 pm the Somerville Arts
Council is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the new Mystic
Eagle Mural Panels on Mystic Avenue. The ceremony is to honor the
Somerville students and naturalists that created this spectacular
eagle mural, and to celebrate thirty years of the amazing Mystic
Mural program under noted muralist David Fichter supported by the Arts
Council. There are approximately 30 panels covering roughly 1000 feet
on the large Route 93 retaining wall along Mystic Avenue, They begin
at about 500 Mystic Ave. near the intersection with Shore Drive and
the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse (There is a public parking lot at 32
Shore Drive and Mystic River). I'd encourage everyone who enjoys the
murals to drop a note to the Somerville Arts Council at
https://www.flickr.com/groups/somervilleartscouncil/ or 2026
Somerville Arts Council, 50 Evergreen Avenue, Somerville, MA 02145 to
thank them for supporting this arts program and the hundreds of
talented young artists who conceived and painted the murals. Paul M.
