Absolutely.
No debate that our government has been blatantly ignoring the say of the
public for the majority of issues lately.
The promotion of certain individuals to key positions in the Department of
the Interior, the USDA, Fish and Wildlife (at this point this list goes on
and on) have almost solely contributed to the sell-off and demise of the
Arctic, The Lower Rio Grande Wildlife Refuge, delisting of the gray wolf,
etc,.
But as the saying goes, two heads are better than one, and having multiple
groups working together for the better of our public lands, forests, areas
of ecological sensitivity and wildlife is critical. So is the importance of
public input. With the thousands of petitions I sign and emails I write, at
least there is a record of my stance, and with enough input, a clear will
of the people. That paper trail can ultimately carry more weight in the
long term and can make a difference in the outcome of these issues.

Regarding Dungeness and Protection Island, there is a specific part of this
proposal that severely restricts public input. Silencing the public cannot
become the norm. Even though this seems to be the current trend with
things, we simply can’t let that happen.
