Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City - Sunday, October 25th -
At least several hundred Pine Siskins occurred on Sunday in Central Park, with some observers 80-100-plus in a small area of the park. At least 9 species of warbler were lingering thru Sunday at this park, none of them exceptionally late. Overall the park featured more than 75 species of native birds on Sunday, and as always, the observers and photographers who were very many, were out from first light thru dusk and some later, and were collectively in all sectors of the park, rather than any limited area or for a very limited time. Ongoing duckage of the park were 2 American Wigeons, 5 Green-winged Teals, 1 Common Merganser, at least 3 Hooded Mergansers, Wood and Ruddy Ducks, N. Shovelers and other typical waterfowl of the season. Ten or more species of native sparrows at Central Park, included Red Fox, Lincolns, White-crowned and so forth.
… …
Away from Central Park, observers along the Hudson River shores of Manhattan saw multiple Royal Terns again on Sunday, and a Yellow-breasted Chat was again seen by many on Sunday at the plaza running from 41st to 42nd Streets and a short way west of Sixth Ave. Of course there were vast numbers and more varieties of birds all around Manhattan and N.Y. County, with more species in the county than for just Central Park.
Thanks to very many observers for sightings, alerts, and reports.
