I checked out Girsh Park this morning before going to the Goleta Farmer's Market. I birded only the field and surrounding area where the Lapland Longspur was seen last week.
The Tennessee Warbler I found in the riparian area last Sunday is still present in the area. Today it was frequenting the white Bottlebrush Trees on both sides of the road. A single Lark Sparrow is still hanging around. Otherwise, only expected species were present.
On Saturday I went to La Cumbre Peak. Good news: The chilly weather and strong breeze got rid of the cloud flies; bad news: most of the montane birds seemed to have left with them. After the wind died down around 9:30 the bird activity picked up, but it still was mostly chaparral birds--only one Red-breasted Nuthatch! There were a number Hermit Thrushes in various places.
