Subject: [nysbirds-l] Central Park, NYC - plus Y.-br. Chat in Manhattan, Saturday, 10/24
At a location near 42nd Street in mid-Manhattan, a Yellow-breasted Chat was reported on Saturday. The Pine Siskin irruption continues with still-increasing triple-digit-total numbers that are both passing thru and stopping to feed in locations all around New York County. A slightly-late N. Waterthrush was photographed again at Bryant Park in mid-Manhattan, where other migrants and birds that may overwinter are being found.

More than 200 Pine Siskins showed in various sectors of Central Park on Saturday, with Purple Finches also occurring again. Rusty Blackbirds also were continuing. Red Fox Sparrow has been seen by many observers as of Saturday, in Central Park.

A female-plumaged Common Merganser was photographed again at the Central Park reservoir on Saturday, additional to the now-4 Hooded Mergansers still there - also ongoing at Central Park are 2 American Wigeons, and multiple Wood and Ruddy Ducks as well as N. Shovelers.

Warblers at Central Park included Tennessee and at least ten additional species - some of these in either single known number, or in low multiples, while a few species were still in double-digits over all of the park such as Myrtle-form Yellow-rumped Warblers and Palm Warblers.

Over 70 species of native birds were found in Central Park on Saturday, with observers out watching all day, and in all sectors of the park, rather than in just one limited area and for a very limited span of daytime.c

Thanks to many observers and photographers for sightings, alerts, and reports.

Good birding,
