Subject: [SFBirds] Lewis's Woodpecker and Lark Sparrows at Fort Mason
Fort Mason was extremely active this morning, with a 56 species checklist.  Highlights included a flyover LEWIS'S WOODPECKER (3rd sighting this fall - unlike the last two, this bird flew over and kept going without stopping); two LARK SPARROWS foraging between the garden and the hostel; at least 11 Red-shafted NORTHERN FLICKERS in the Battery as well as an intergrade; at least two VARIED THRUSHES (one a bright male vocalizing in a Cypress); a WESTERN TANAGER in the garden; a vocal female PURPLE FINCH, and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
