Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter: Ed Sinkler

Observers: Brett White, Joe Farkas

Visitors:
There were at least 232 visitors to the south lookout with engagement with
103 guests. The raptor, migration and ridge posters were a hit with many
visitors. At the height of the eagle circling, all five pairs of loaner
binoculars were being used by visitors. Loaner binoculars were consistently
being used throughout the day.

Weather:
Cloud cover was 5-0%
Wind speed was variable from 1-5 mph and direction was once again all over
the place from SE/N/SE/S/SW
Temperatures ranged from 36-60 degrees F
Maximum visibility was 25-30 miles. There was a strange inversion near
Tannersville that made the mountain seem like it was extended as a butte.

Raptor Observations:
Bald Eagle: 1052a, 1052a, 1052i, 1052i, 1205a, 1205a, 1316a
Golden Eagle: 1052i

Thought the winds did not seem as if it was going to be a great day, the
first bird of the day was a female Northern Harrier at 7:05 and buoyed our
hopes for many more birds. We did see another Harrier, but it went to the
north uncounted.

The real excitement for us began at 1045 when we found an up-ridge immature
Bald Eagle that was flying low over the south valley and was joined by and
adult Bald and they began to interact. They began to gain altitude and were
joined by another immature and adult Bald eagle. At the same time, an
immature Golden eagle was flying up-ridge and joined the four Balds in a
kettle that circled and increased altitude until the bird broke off moving
southwest at 10:52. There were many visitors at the south lookout that were
able to see all five eagles circling in the valley.

Brett observed the two 12:05 adult Bald eagles flying off of the slope of
one at very low altitude interacting and gaining altitude near Grant-White
hill. There was an up-ridge immature Bald eagle that was not counted at
12:17. Our Eagle day was completed by and adult Bald circling with Turkey
Vultures at 13:16

Non-raptor Observations:
Raven (6), Robins, Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Pileated
Woodpecker, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Cedar Waxwing, American Goldfinch.
American Crow, Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse

Monarch: 1

Predictions:
Sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.
