Mobirders, The MBS-DNR State Parks agreement (SPARKS) stipulates at least 1,000 volunteer hours (birding) in Missouri State Parks annually. Super hot days in early autumn meant fewer hours out birding for many of us.
We are now looking at some beautiful weather ahead. As you plan an outing or two, please consider including birding a state park to meet our commitment to increase our understanding of bird occurrence through the year.
Focus parks are: Big Sugar Creek SP, McDonald Co. Crowder SP, Grundy Co. Echo Bluff SP, Shannon Co. Grand Gulf SP, Oregon Co. Harry S. Truman SP, Benton Co. Meramec SP, Franklin Co. Robertsville SP, Franklin Co. Pomme de Terre SP, Hickory Co. Stockton SP, Cedar Co.
Additional parks we are working on filling in blank weeks for eBird checklists include: Graham Cave SP, Montgomery Co. Battle of Pilot Knob SHS, Iron Co Taum Sauk Mountain SP, Iron Co. . Lake Wappapello SP, Wayne Co. Sam A. Baker SP, Wayne SP Lake of the Ozarks SP, Camdon Co. Mark Twain SP, Monroe Co. Mastodon SHS, Jefferson Co. St. Joe SP, St. Francis Co. You can see the blank weeks in the bar charts by going to eBird Explore, clicking on the hotspot listing for the county and bringing up the bar chart.
