Cool windy morning started & ended our day early - however the sparrows, esp. the juncos were active along the field on the 2nd net check. We captured 22 birds of which 17 were juncos, a few Swamp, Song and Chipping Sparrows plus a Wht-throated Sp. The sparrows were active & numerous, but the wind kept moving the nets around reducing the captures. Other captures than sparrows were 4 Robins, 4 Chickadees, 1 Tufted Titmouse, 1 Carolina Wren - in total captured 31 birds basically in the first 2 net checks - by the time we processed all the birds from the 2nd net check, the wind had really pick up so we closed. This was definingly our 1st big junco day of the fall as our 17 junco captures was only a small part of the juncos along the edges. Other than the sparrows, did have a few Yellow-rumps calling, Bluebirds, a Pileated Woodpecker feeding low only yards from 1 net, many Mallards & Wood Ducks in the marsh - basically a sparrow morning.
