Official Counter: John Weeks

Observers: Gary Adamson, John Weeks

Visitors:
Karen Saunders, fellow Granby resident and dedicated caretaker, together
with her husband Bob, of the Granby Land Trust's Dismal Brook Wildlife
Preserve.

Weather:
High, thin clouds, the cover increasing gradually during the watch from 25%
to 60%. Wind NNE 8-15 mph. Temperature 50-57 F.

Raptor Observations:
Just over half of the migrants were Turkey Vultures. Nice looks at one of
the Merlins. Non-migrants: 3 Bald Eagles (2 adults and a third-year
immature bird), Cooper's Hawk, 2 Red-shouldered Hawks (both adults). The
Cooper's Hawk circled high above the Hill, tempting us to count it as a
migrant, then abruptly plunged into a steep dive, at the bottom of which it
swept into the midst of a flock of Pine Siskins. The flock scattered, then
coalesced again and fled into the woods unscathed.

Non-raptor Observations:
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue Jays (2), American Crows (6), Common Ravens
(2), Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Purple Finches (2), PINE
SISKINS (ca. 30), Dark-eyed Juncos (2), Yellow-rumped Warblers (7).
